CBS visotubes are transparent outer storage tubes used in the CBS High Security straw system. After a CBS straw is filled with embryos, oocytes, or sperm and heat-sealed using a SYMS sealer, the straw is placed inside a visotube. The visotube is then loaded into a goblet, the goblet into a canister, and the canister into the LN2 storage vessel. This straw-visotube-goblet-canister-vessel hierarchy is the standard storage organisation system used in IVF laboratories.

The visotube serves two functions. First, it provides a second layer of physical containment around the sealed CBS straw, adding to the closed system protection that prevents sample contact with shared liquid nitrogen. Second, the transparent material allows visual identification of the straw inside without removing it from the goblet — relevant for traceability checks and HFEA audit purposes where sample location needs to be verified without unnecessarily disturbing the storage configuration.

Visotubes are available in sizes compatible with standard CBS 0.3ml and 0.5ml straws. They are part of the broader CBS storage accessory range that Cryolab supplies alongside straws, vitrification kits, and storage vessels. Contact Cryolab for stocking quantities and compatibility guidance.
