In most cases, the impact of cryopreservation on IVF success rates is modest, particularly with high-quality initial samples and correctly executed freezing and thawing procedures. The freeze-thaw process does reduce sperm motility to some degree, but outcomes in IVF and ICSI from frozen sperm are increasingly comparable to fresh samples in clinical practice. The quality of the pre-freeze sperm analysis, the cryoprotectant protocol used, and the controlled cooling and warming methods all significantly influence post-thaw survival and subsequent IVF performance.
