A liquid nitrogen face shield is a full-face protective visor designed for cryogenic environments. It provides protection for the face and eyes from liquid nitrogen splashes, which can cause instant cryogenic burns and, in the case of eye exposure, severe corneal damage or blindness. In an IVF or andrology lab, a liquid nitrogen face shield must be worn whenever liquid nitrogen is being handled: when opening cryostorage tanks, retrieving or storing samples, transferring liquid nitrogen, or performing any procedure that involves contact with cryogenic materials. It should be paired with cryogenic gloves and appropriate lab clothing.
