Yes but only if it’s the right pen. Not all cryo markers are created equal. A high-quality cryogenic marker pen should perform reliably on plastic, glass, metal, cardboard, cloth and Teflon surfaces. The challenge with frozen surfaces is that condensation can prevent ink from bonding if the pen isn’t formulated for it meaning you must mark at room temperature before freezing, unless you’re using a pen specifically rated for sub-zero application.

Our Cryomarker Fine Tip – Black or Coloured – Pk4 features a precision fine tip that lets you label even the smallest cryovials and sample tubes with clarity. The ink is fast-drying, smudge-proof and alcohol-resistant surviving direct liquid nitrogen immersion at -196°C and repeated freeze-thaw cycles without fading, cracking or peeling. Available in both black and colour variants in a convenient pack of 4, it’s the go-to choice for labs that can’t afford sample identification failures.
