Cryolab at ESHRE 2026 and the International Symposium on Spermatology, University of Birmingham

Cryolab has attended two of the most significant events in reproductive medicine and andrology science in 2026, exhibiting at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology Annual Meeting in London in July, and representing the company at the XVth International Symposium on Spermatology at the University of Birmingham later that same month.

The two events together reflect the dual focus that has defined Cryolab’s work for over four decades: clinical IVF practice on one side, and the science of sperm biology and andrology on the other.

ESHRE 2026: Stand D08, ExCeL London, 5 to 8 July

ESHRE 2026 took place at ExCeL London from 5 to 8 July, drawing thousands of clinicians, embryologists, scientists, and industry professionals from across the world. Cryolab exhibited at stand D08, presenting its current range of liquid nitrogen storage vessels, dry shippers, controlled rate freezers, and cryogenic consumables to visitors from fertility clinics, NHS trusts, university hospitals, and research institutions.

The annual ESHRE meeting is the primary gathering point for the European IVF community. For Cryolab, it represents an opportunity to meet the laboratory professionals who use its equipment day to day, to understand how clinical practice is evolving, and to discuss the technical and regulatory challenges that UK and European IVF labs are navigating in 2026.

Paul Hague, who has attended 42 consecutive ESHRE Annual Meetings since the first in Bonn in 1985, reflected on the significance of the event:

“ESHRE has grown from a small gathering of specialists into the central forum for reproductive medicine in Europe. What has not changed in 42 years is the fundamental purpose: people who care about outcomes for patients, comparing notes, challenging assumptions, and raising the standard of what is possible. That is still what you find at the meeting, and it is still why it matters.”

The CryoStork dry shipper range and CryoNest liquid nitrogen storage vessel series were among the products on display at stand D08. Both product lines are designed specifically for the demands of licensed IVF settings, with UKCA and CE markings and performance specifications matched to the requirements of HFEA-regulated laboratories.

XVth International Symposium on Spermatology: University of Birmingham, 29 July to 2 August

The International Symposium on Spermatology is held every four years and represents the leading global gathering for researchers and clinicians working across human, mammalian, agricultural, and marine sperm biology. The XVth symposium, taking place at the University of Birmingham from 29 July to 2 August 2026, is the first time the event has been hosted in the United Kingdom in its history, which stretches back to the founding of the symposium series in 1969.

The University of Birmingham has longstanding connections to andrology research, and the location carries particular resonance for Cryolab, which has supplied andrology laboratories worldwide for over 40 years and has supported the University of Birmingham’s spermatology work as a sponsor of the conference.

The symposium programme covers four themed days: spermatogenesis and genetics on 30 July, ejaculation, delivery, and the fertilisation environment on 31 July, sperm function on 1 August, and a closing day on 2 August addressing broader questions in sperm biology.

Cryolab’s Position in the IVF and Andrology Supply Chain

Cryolab has supplied cryogenic equipment to IVF laboratories, NHS fertility services, private clinics, sperm banks, and research institutions worldwide since 2000. The company’s product range covers every stage of the cryogenic workflow in a fertility or andrology laboratory, from liquid nitrogen storage vessels and dry shippers through to controlled rate freezers, cryogenic consumables, and sperm analysis equipment.

Paul Hague, who has been involved in the IVF and cryogenic equipment sector throughout the period in which IVF developed from an experimental procedure to a mainstream clinical pathway, noted the scale of the change that has occurred over that time:

“When I attended my first ESHRE meeting in Bonn in 1985, IVF was new. The clinical infrastructure for embryo and sperm cryopreservation was being built from scratch. The equipment, the protocols, the regulatory frameworks: all of it has developed enormously since then. Cryolab has been part of that development, and events like ESHRE and the Spermatology Symposium are where that development is still happening.”

The company’s CryoNest series of liquid nitrogen storage vessels, CryoStork dry shipper range, and CBS DigitCool controlled rate freezers are among the products available to UK and international laboratories via the Cryolab website.

About the International Symposium on Spermatology

The International Symposium on Spermatology (ISS) was founded in 1969 and is held every four years. It brings together researchers from human reproductive medicine, mammalian biology, agricultural science, plant biology, and marine biology, united by a shared focus on sperm function and reproductive science. The XVth symposium in 2026 is the first to be hosted in the United Kingdom. The event is chaired by Professor Jackson Kirkman-Brown MBE of the University of Birmingham, a leading figure in andrology research and male fertility science.

About ESHRE

The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology was founded in 1985. Its annual meeting is the largest gathering of reproductive medicine specialists in Europe, attended by clinicians, embryologists, scientists, and industry professionals from across the world. The 2026 meeting was held at ExCeL London in July.
